Okay friends, here is the first episode of Knitting with Joy. You'll probably find that the audio quality leaves a bit to be desired. 95.3 KQAD doesn't have that great of equipment. There's also a slight learning curve for yours truly. Mother Crammer called during the show and I didn't know that I had to press a button in order for the listeners to hear her. You might count yourself lucky for that, she was in quite a mood.

Mr. Judsen cut me off at the end because he wasn't sure if I'd stop talking, so that's why you'll hear quite an abrupt stop.

Please enjoy, and be kind, it was my first time. Thank you, friends.

It occurs to me that someone who finds my website probably want to know a little bit about what makes Joy tick.

I was born Joy Beulah Crammer, the eldest daughter of Randall and Hope Crammer, on April 1 (no foolin'!), 1979.  I was born at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crescent, Minnesota, and baptized exactly a month later.  My sister Jean was born three years later, and my parents quit after that.

We all moved to Moline, Illinois, in 1985, when my dad got a new job at Heft's Meatpacking Plant (he left the job, and us, soon after).  I enrolled in kindergarten at Our Redeemer Lutheran Grade School (Peter Heckle transferred there in the sixth grade), then went to Southridge Trinity for high school.  After that, I spent two semesters at Near West Illinois Technical College in the phlebotomy program before I realized that just because I love the needlework of knitting, I don't love the syringe kind.

Ever since then, I've worked at the Lincoln Relay System where I work as a communication assistant helping deaf, hard of hearing, and speech disabled people make their phone calls. I also work part-time at the local Jo-Ann Fabrics (but just for the discount).  And now I have my own radio show, too!

My favorite movie is Beaches, and my favorite show is Golden Girls (in re-runs obviously!).  I also love, LOVE Andrew McCarthy, especially in Pretty in Pink where he won an Oscar for best eyes.  And my favorite feline is my cat Purr-l.

That's about it. Thank you, friends.

Happy Monday

Hi friends, this is Joy, Joy Crammer. I had a rough weekend with the 3 am shows and Mother Crammer becoming a little under the weather. I wasn't able to get to the station off-hours to see if Mr. Judsen found time to work his magic and turn the first show into a format that I can share with you.

In celebration of labor day weekend, 95.3 KQAD, "The place for rock in the Quad Cities", is having a 4-day rock and roll marathon, so Knitting with Joy won't air again until the following weekend.

It will be nice to have a break, though. My sister, Jean, has been bugging me to come check out the labor day sale at the SuperTarget in Moline, where she's been assistant manager for almost three years now.

Well, friends, it's time for me to go. My cat, Purr-l is begging for some attention.

Hello friends

This is Joy, Joy Crammer, and welcome to my new blog, "Knitting with Joy". I'm so happy to be able to share my joy for knitting with you. Soon, I'll post my very first podcast, which also happens to be the first radio program of Knitting with Joy. It was a little hectic because it was my first time knitting in front of a microphone, but I think you just might enjoy it anyhow.

Better go, Mother Crammer is calling for me.
